CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support

Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work placement as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.


Further study pathways – This qualification will provide you with a pathway to CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support.

Employment pathways – Although it does not guarantee an employment outcome, completion of this qualification could lead to your employment in the aged care industry in the following occupational titles:

Entry Requirements

You are required to undertake a Pre Training Review prior to enrolment to identify competencies you have previously acquired and to ascertain your suitability and appropriateness for this qualification. The Pre Training Review is designed to ensure we can help you participate in and successfully attain your desired learning outcomes.

Mandatory requirements – There are no mandatory requirements for this qualification.

Suitability requirements – This qualification requires you to have physical attributes suitable for workplace experience within the aged care industry which encompasses manual handling of equipment and clients.

Materials, equipment and resources – You will need access to a computer with Internet.

Workplace Experience

Prior to commencing workplace experience, you must obtain a current Victorian Working with Children Check as well as a current satisfactory Police Check as required by the Placement Provider. You are required to undertake a minimum of 120 hours (152 hours if including Medication unit) of workplace experience through work placement/employment in a relevant aged care setting. There will be an additional one week of placement to cover the disability stream. A PTA workplace deed needs to be approved by PTA before you can start workplace experience.

Students will be required to attend an interview and induction with the provider prior to placement.
